Family Ministries

Family Ministries is involved in the development and promotion of activities and programming that will benefit the family of St. Luke. Our largest program is the annual "Church Family" retreat at Blue Lake, a Methodist campground and lodge located in Andalusia, AL This is a time for the church family to gather for a time of reflection, spiritual growth and the deepening of our bonds as a church. This event is usually held in late May and everyone is invited. This retreat is just one of the many other special family activities we enjoy throughout the year.

This committee also hosts the annual "Dinner on the Grounds" in celebration of our country's independence (it is our 4th of July picnic always held on Sunday). In addition to great food, there are games for the young and the young at heart, and wonderful fellowship at this event.

Family Ministries also sponsors and promotes educational programs to benefit our families. A recent program was a Wednesday night study entitled "Return to Mayberry." Using episodes of the Andy Griffith Show, the study group would watch one half-hour show focusing on the biblical principles contained within the episode. The class would then discuss how we use these principles in our daily lives. Family Ministries also sponsored classes for families with teenagers and ways to build stronger families.
