About Our Church

St. Luke United Methodist Church was established in June 1985. The bond of fellowship experienced at St. Luke has led this church to become one of the fastest growing Methodist churches in the Alabama-West Florida Conference. We seek to offer a quality worship experience, a local and international mission thrust, and comprehensive study and fellowship programs for the entire family.

Our Mission Statement

  • To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
  • To bring glory to God by being motivated by love and focus our numerous ministries on bringing people to God's love and grace.
  • To actively welcome guests to St. Luke in a warm, receptive atmosphere of Christian love.
  • To nurture Christian growth and discipleship through the Word, the sacraments, music, liturgy and education.
  • To emphasize missions both at home and around the world.
  • We proclaim all of the above using as our values the upholding of the Scriptures as our authority and affirming the doctrine of the United Methodist Church.
  • Worship Services

We have a Traditional Service at 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. and a Contemporary Service at 9:30 a.m. On special events and holidays this schedule may change but will be noted on the calendar. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers during all services.

    Sunday School

Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Feel free to visit our Sunday school classes until you find one that works for you. Children's Sunday school classes are divided by age and grade. Assistance in locating a class can be obtained by asking an usher or greeter in the narthex.

    The Lord's Supper

Our congregation celebrates the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month during each worship service. We practice open communion, which means it is not necessary to belong to this congregation to partake in communion.

    Baptism

United Methodists understand baptism primarily as the act of God, through the church, in which a person is claimed as God's own and initiated into His family. Infants and adults are regulary baptized in all three worship services. Parents who wish to present their children for baptism are invited to call our Administrative Assistant, Michele Millet, at 477-3145, Ext. 110 to arrange a meeting with Rev. Roberts or Rev. Nelson.

    Casual Sundays

It has become a tradition at St. Luke that summers (Memorial Day through Labor Day) are casual dress. As we move into summer, we will relax a little and not be so formal in our Sunday dress - cool, casual, and comfortable (but appropriate!) is the key.   You will notice that our ministers, choir members and acolytes even take a break from the formality of wearing robes during this casual time. We invite you to join us each Sunday, to casually “rest and refresh” your summer spirit!

    Ministries

St. Luke is known for strong programs for children and youth, but also has many ways for adults to get involved. Browse through the Ministries page to see what's going on at St. Luke.

    Missions

Missions, from local and international, is also a focus at St. Luke. Local missions include being a Partner in Education with Ensley Elementary School and our annual Habitat for Humanity build. We also send mission teams to Peru and Ecuador. Browse through the Missions page and maybe you will find a way to serve that appeals to you.
