Our Vision

We exist to continue the work of Jesus Christ, by connecting people to God, nurturing one another in love, and serving Him both near and far, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Service is a key part of our vision and the people of St. Luke love to serve! Whether it is in the streets of Lima or Quito in South America or with our neighbors nearby, we do our best to be the hands of Christ. Follow the links below to see where we serve.

Getting Involved

 Mentors and Friends

We serve as mentors to children at several schools, primarily at Ensley Elementary School. The satisfaction of seeing a child grow and learn is priceless. But we also reach young men and women through our Scout troops and children of all ages in our children’s ministry — from preschool to high school.

This year we are reaching out to local assisted living facilities, letting both the residents and staff know they are appreciated and that someone cares. We hold monthly services at Azalea Trace for the residents who can’t come to church.

As Helping Hands

A number of us serve at Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries. Located in one of lowest income area of the city, PUMCM provides food, shelter and support for those who cannot help themselves. We cook and serve food, work in the thrift store and help around the facility.

Members serve at a variety of other organizations including My Fathers Arrow, Safe Harbor, and Teen Challenge.

Bringing Joy to Kids

We teach dance to students at Ensley Elementary. Along with instructors, the church provided shoes for each of the dancers. We hold a number of events throughout the year for children:

  • Easter festival for preschool children

  • Vacation Bible School

  • Camp Happy Sands

  • Pumpkin Patch pumpkin sales

  • Halloween Trunk and Treat

  • Night in Bethlehem in December

Donating Our Resources

Manna Food Bank

On Super Bowl Sunday we hold a food drive for Manna Food Bank. Manna provides food to organizations throughout the area who serve hungry families.

Bright Bridge Ministry

Our members have been generous in their support of this important community ministry. Along with weekly food donations for their kitchen, we have donated bicycles, books, blankets, umbrellas and clothing.

Ensley Elementary

There are a number of families at Ensley that struggle to make ends meet. We helped in many ways:

  • We gave 25 families groceries at Thanksgiving for dinner and to help stock their pantries

  • 83 children received Christmas presents from our Secret Santa program

  • Over 100 backpacks filled with school supplies were waiting for students on the first day of school.

Other Organizations

The church and members provide support, as volunteers and with financial aid and materials to a large number of worthwhile organizations:

  • Bright Bridge

  • Manna Food Bank

  • Wesley Foundation

  • Teen Challenge

  • United Ministries

  • Loaves and Fishes

  • United Methodist Children’s Home

  • Milk and Honey

  • Gideons

Praying for Others

As Christians we know the power of prayer. Prayer is an important part of our mission program. We have hosted a National Day of Prayer service for many years each May. We pray over the desks for each student at Ensley Elementary before school in August. The needs of others are always in our prayers.

Partnering with Organizations

There are a number of ways to help. Listed below are the organizations we support. You can contact the organization directly or contact our church member familiar with each organization.
